Quick-enter data for several targets

Type the session totals for many targets into one table in the web app, for example from a paper worksheet.

Applies toAideBCBA

Quick entry lets you record many targets on one screen instead of one window per target. It is made for copying a paper worksheet into ABACare: one row per target, the totals in each row and one save. ABACare turns each row into the same runs you would record target by target. The order of trials within a run is not recorded, so use the step-by-step collectors when that order matters.

Before you start

  • Quick entry is in the web app only. The mobile app records one target at a time.
  • The session must be In Progress and assigned to you. If your clinic lets aides correct submitted sessions, you can also use it on a submitted session.
  • To fill in a worksheet you printed, see Print a data collection worksheet.
  • BCBAs use quick entry the same way.

Open the quick entry table

  1. Open the session and select Collect Data, then Target, or select + on the Data card.
  2. Tick the targets you want to fill in. A target that already has data shows how many runs it has.
  3. Select Quick entry.

The Quick entry window opens with one row per target, showing its name, goal and type. Generalization and maintenance targets are tagged as such.

Fill in the rows

Enter the totals in the Entry column. What you type depends on the target type:

Target typeWhat you enter
DTTCorrect, Incorrect and a count per prompt level. When you enter more trials than one run holds, the row shows how many runs it splits into.
FrequencyCount.
RateCount and the observation Time.
DurationTime, in minutes and seconds.
LatencySeconds, or No response.
Task analysisFor each step: not done, independent or the prompt level. All independent marks every step.
GenericYour note.
  1. Fill in the rows you have data for. Empty rows are skipped.
  2. Use the Notes column if you want. For most types it is a Note on this target, saved as a target note and not on the run.
  3. To record a second run of the same target, select Add run. A new row appears under it, and you can remove it until it is saved.
  4. Check the count at the bottom, for example 3 rows ready to save, and select Save Data.

Generalization and maintenance rows

How these rows look depends on how your clinic records generalization and maintenance:

  • Granular: a generalization target gets one row per context, labeled Context: and the name. If your BCBA wants the contexts tested in order, only the current context has a row. A maintenance target gets a Maintenance probe row. You enter the same totals as for its type, and each saved row shows Pass or Fail.
  • Simple: a generalization row shows Demonstrated and Not Demonstrated for each context, and a maintenance row shows Still Has It and Doesn't Have It.

A generalization target with every context passed, or with no context yet, gets no row.

Save and check the results

  • If nothing is filled in, Nothing to save yet — fill in at least one row. appears and nothing is saved.
  • If a row has a mistake, for example a count that is not a whole number, it turns red with the reason in the Status column and nothing is saved. Fix it and save again.
  • Otherwise the rows save one at a time. Each shows Saving..., then Saved or Failed with the reason.
  • When every row is saved, a message says how many rows and notes were saved and the window closes. The count is in runs, so a DTT row split into three runs counts as three.
  • If some rows fail, Some rows could not be saved. Fix the errors and press Save again. appears and the window stays open. Saved rows are locked. Saving again can repeat the earlier runs of a DTT row that was split, or of a generalization row with several contexts, so check the Data card first.

Cancel closes the window and throws away rows you have not saved. There is no offline saving.

What happens next

  • The runs and notes appear on the session's Data card, as if you had recorded each target one at a time.
  • Each run gets the time you saved it, not the time on your worksheet.
  • To change a run, see Correct my data during a session.
