Deliver a session and complete it directly

Run a session yourself in the web app, collect its data on the session page and finish it as Completed, with no separate submit and review.

Sometimes you run a session yourself: you cover for an aide, or you deliver the session as the clinician. You begin it, collect data on the same page and finish it. Because you delivered it and you are also its reviewer, the session goes straight from In Progress to Completed. It never waits in Submitted for review. Org owners see the same buttons, but ABACare refuses most target data they save: behaviors, rewards and target notes save normally. Deliver sessions as a BCBA.

Before you start

You do this in the web app. BCBAs and org owners use the mobile app only for supervisions.
The session must be Scheduled. It does not need an aide.
You can begin a session scheduled for a later day, for example when you run it early.

Begin the session

Open the session from Sessions, from the calendar or from the Sessions tab of the learner's page.

Optional: in the Mandatory Targets card, tick the targets that must get data and save them. The card disappears once the session begins. See Set mandatory targets for a session.
Select Begin Session. The message Session updated successfully appears and the status changes to In Progress.

Beginning a session does not record the real start time. You enter it when you complete the session.

Collect data

Select Collect Data and choose Target, Behavior or Reward.
For targets, pick the ones you run, then step through them one at a time or enter them all at once. Each target opens the same window your aides use.
To log a behavior, you can also select + on the Behavior Records card.

The Session Rewards card does not appear right after you begin. It shows once you reload the page or log a first reward through Collect Data.

Complete the session

Select Completed. Confirm session times opens with the date, the start time and the end time. The date and the start are the scheduled ones and the end is now. If the session did not run on its scheduled day, change the date too.
Correct the date and times so they match the session as it ran. Start and end share one date, the date cannot be later than today, and the start must be before the end.
Select Confirm & Complete.

The message Session updated successfully appears and the session is Completed. Select Cancel to keep it in progress.

Warning

Change at least one time if you want the real window recorded. If you confirm without changing anything, ABACare records no actual times: the session page shows only the scheduled times, and authorization hours are counted from them. Once the session is Completed, its times can no longer be changed.

ABACare refuses a session longer than 12 hours. There is no warning for a session with no data.

What happens next

The Status History shows two changes: Session started by BCBA and Session completed by BCBA.
Collect Data, Edit Session, Delete and the edit and delete buttons on runs disappear. The data is final.
ABACare drafts the session's AI notes, which you check and edit: see Review, edit or regenerate AI session notes. You can also publish session notes for parents.
ABACare checks each target against its mastery criteria and may suggest a status change. See Review an automatic status suggestion.
The learner's authorization hours are recounted.
