Add goals and targets from the library

Browse the treatment library from a learner's plan, pick a goal and the targets you want, and add a copy of them to the plan.

Applies toBCBAOrg Owner

The treatment library holds ready-made goals, each with suggested targets and their collection settings. Adding from the library is the quickest way to fill a plan. ABACare copies the goal and the targets you pick into the learner's plan. The copy belongs to the plan: you can change it for this learner, and later changes to the library never reach it.

Before you start

  • The plan must be Active. On an On Hold or Completed plan, Add from Library is disabled.
  • BCBAs and org owners add library content in the web app. The mobile app cannot.
  • The library has two sources. Global content comes with ABACare. Your clinic's own content, under My Organization, is available on paid plans. On the Free plan you see only global content. To look through the library before you open a plan, see Browse the treatment library.

Pick a goal and its targets

Open the learner's plan, for example with Go to Active Plan on the learner's page, and open the Goals tab. The button is in the header of the goals list, whether you use the card view or the table view.

  1. Select Add from Library. The Add Goal from Library window opens at the list of domains.
  2. At the top left, choose which content to browse: All, Global or My Organization. Search library... narrows the list you are looking at.
  3. Select a domain, then a subdomain. Back to Domains and Back to Subdomains take you up a level.
  4. Select a goal. Each goal shows where it comes from: Global, or your clinic's name for your clinic's own goals.
  5. The goal's targets appear with their type and settings. A target that counts different days reads in days, for example Mastery: 80% for 3 days. Targets that are not in the plan yet are already selected. Select a target to add or remove it, or use Select All and Deselect All. The Selection Summary on the right lists what you picked.
  6. To make the goal and targets Active straight away, tick Start as Active. Otherwise they are added as Planned.
  7. Select Add Goal. If you picked no targets, the button reads Add Goal (No Targets) and adds the goal on its own.

Goal added to plan appears, the window closes and the goal is added at the end of the plan.

Add more targets to a goal already in the plan

A library goal can be in a plan only once. To add more of its targets later, select Add from Library again and go to the same goal. Make sure the source you picked includes it: a goal of your clinic's library is not listed under Global.

  • The window title changes to Add More Targets to Goal and a message says the goal is already in the plan.
  • Targets already in the plan carry an In plan (1x) tag. You can still add them again. Each copy is a separate target with its own settings.
  • Select Add Targets.

Your clinic's library

Under My Organization you see the goals your clinic created. When there are none, a BCBA sees No Organization Content Yet and can go back with View Global Library. An org owner sees Build Your Clinic's Playbook with Create Organization Content, and can also edit or delete the clinic's goals and targets from this window. Deleting them never changes the copies already in plans.

Good to know

  • If a list stays empty, for example No goals found, the content may have failed to load. Close the window and try again.
  • If you change the search or the source after selecting targets, targets you can no longer see stay selected and are added too. Check the Selection Summary before you add.
  • Select Add Goal once. A double click can try to add the goal twice and show an error.
  • Error messages from the server can appear in English, whatever the language of the app.

What happens next

  • The goal and targets are copied into the plan, in your language when the library has a translation. They are Planned, or Active if you ticked Start as Active. Active targets added to a goal you put on hold are held straight away and become Active when you resume the goal.
  • When a copied target meets its mastery criteria with Automatic State Transition on, it moves to your clinic's default destination.
  • A goal from a parent training domain is marked for home practice automatically: see Assign a goal for home practice.
  • If the goals list is filtered by status, a new Planned goal may not show until you choose Show All.
  • Adjust each copied target to the learner: see Configure a target's measurement and mastery.
