Edit, reorder or remove goals and targets
Change a goal's learner notes, order and home-practice setting, drag goals into a new order, open a target's details, and delete goals or targets from a plan.
A plan changes as the learner progresses. On the plan's Goals tab you keep the goals in shape: add notes for this learner, set the order in which goals appear, decide which goals parents practice at home, and remove what no longer belongs in the plan. A target's own settings live on its details page, which you open from here.
Before you start
- The plan must be Active. On an On Hold or Completed plan the edit, delete and details actions are disabled, and target names are not links.
- BCBAs and org owners manage goals and targets in the web app. Aides see the plan read-only.
Edit a goal
Open the learner's plan and the Goals tab. The card view shows each goal as a card with its targets. The table view shows goals and targets as rows under their domain and subdomain. Switch between them with the two icons above the list.
- Open the goal:
- in the card view, select the goal's title or its pencil icon;
- in the table view, select the goal's name, or Edit in the row's menu.
- The Edit Plan Goal window shows the name and description, which you cannot change here. Change what you need:
- Learner-Specific Notes: notes about this goal for this learner.
- Goal Priority/Order: lower numbers appear first in the list. Do not leave it empty, or saving fails.
- Assignable to Parent: turn it on to send the goal to parents for home practice, and write the Instructions for Parents. See Assign a goal for home practice.
- Select Save Changes.
The message reads Goal status updated successfully, although you changed the goal's details. The list reloads and the goal moves if you changed its order. In the card view, a goal assignable to parents carries a Parent badge; the table view shows no marker.
Emptying the notes or the parent instructions, or turning Assignable to Parent off, does not remove the text that was saved before. Cancel closes the window without saving.
Reorder goals
In the card view, drag a goal card by its handle and drop it on another card. The goal moves at once, with no message. The table view has no dragging: its column sorting changes only what you see, so use Goal Priority/Order there instead.
- Reorder with Show All selected. With a status filter on, the drop can move a different goal.
- After goals have been deleted, the order saved can differ from what the screen shows. Reload the page to see the saved order.
Open a target's details
Select a target's name, or open its menu and select Open details. The target's page holds its settings, data, notes and history: see Review a target's details page.
To suggest a goal or target you created yourself for your clinic's library, use Propose to Org Library: the star icon on the goal's card or the target's menu in the card view, or the row's menu in the table view. It works while the plan is Active, on a paid plan: see Propose a goal or target for the organization library.
Delete a goal or a target
- For a goal, select its bin icon in the card view, or Delete in the table row's menu. For a target, open its menu and select Delete.
- A confirmation window shows the name of the goal or target in bold. Its title and text do not match the action, so rely on the name in bold.
- Select Delete.
Deleting a goal removes all its targets with it. There is no undo, and the window does not warn you about data already collected for it. To stop working on a target or goal for a while but keep it in the plan, put it On Hold instead: see Change goal and target status.
What happens next
- Edits and deletions reload the goals and the Overview progress. Aides and parents see the change the next time they load the plan.
- Deleting a target does not recalculate its goal's status. A goal whose last Active target you deleted stays Active until you change it.
- Deleting a goal leaves a gap in the order numbers of the others.
