Manage a plan's behaviors
Add the behaviors you want to reduce to a learner's plan, from the library or your own, choose how aides record each one, and change or retire them.
The behaviors on a treatment plan are the problem behaviors you want aides to record and reduce, such as tantrums or leaving the work area. For each one you write a definition, choose how it is recorded (every episode with its antecedent and consequence, or one count or duration per session) and give aides quick picks for the antecedents and consequences they see most. Only active behaviors reach sessions, so you retire a behavior by changing its status.
Before you start
- You work on the Behaviors tab of the plan, in the web app.
- The plan must be Active. On an On Hold or Completed plan every button is disabled except History.
- Org owners manage behaviors the same way. Aides do not see the tab; they record the behaviors in sessions.
Add a behavior from the library
Open Learners, select the learner, open the Treatment Plans tab and select the eye icon on the plan. Then open the Behaviors tab.
- Select Add from Library.
- Narrow the list with the categories (All, a category, or Other) and the search box. Behaviors already on the plan show Already added and cannot be picked.
- Select a behavior. Its name appears under Selected Behavior.
- Select Add Behavior.
The message Behavior added to treatment plan appears and the behavior joins the list with status Active. The plan keeps its own copy: later changes to the library do not reach it, and you can edit the copy freely.
The search matches the library's English names. In Spanish or Romanian, if a name you can see does not come up, pick the category instead.
Create a custom behavior
- Select Create Custom Behavior.
- Type a Name (required, up to 200 characters) and, optionally, pick a Category. With no category, the behavior is listed under Other.
- Write the Definition: what the behavior looks like, so that everyone records the same thing.
- Pick the Data Collection Mode:
- ABC records every episode with its antecedent and consequence.
- Count records how many times it happened in the session.
- Duration records how long it lasted in the session.
- In ABC mode, add Antecedent Quick Picks and Consequence Quick Picks: type each one and press Enter, up to 15 per list. Aides tap them instead of typing.
- Add Notes if you want, then select Create.
The message Custom behavior created successfully appears and the behavior joins the list with status Active.
Edit a behavior
- Open the ⋮ menu on the behavior and select Edit.
- Change the name, definition, category, mode, quick picks or notes. Quick picks show only in ABC mode; picks you saved are kept if you switch back.
- Select Save.
If the behavior already has session data and you change its mode, a warning explains that existing records keep the mode they were recorded with. Only new data uses the new mode. An aide who still has a session open with the old mode gets an error when saving it, and must reopen the session.
Change a behavior's status
- Open the ⋮ menu on the behavior and select Change Status.
- Under New Status, pick Active, On Hold, Mastered or Discontinued.
- Add a Reason (Optional), up to 500 characters, and select Update Status.
Select History in the same menu to see every status change, who made it, when and why.
Only Active behaviors appear in sessions, in parents' behavior tracking at home and on the printed worksheet. Plan analytics still show every behavior, whatever its status.
Delete a behavior
You can delete only a behavior that has no session data.
- Open the ⋮ menu on the behavior and select Delete.
- Confirm with Delete in the Delete Behavior window.
A behavior with the Session data collected badge still offers Delete, and the window says all related data will be removed, but the deletion is refused with an error. Retire it with Change Status instead. Episodes that parents logged at home do not block a deletion.
What happens next
- Aides see the change the next time they open a session for this learner: new and active behaviors appear, others disappear, and each is recorded in its mode.
- Nobody is notified of your changes. History keeps status changes only, not edits.
- Use the search box and the status filter above the list to find a behavior on a long plan.
